I am so excited to share with you that my works “Grace from Disgrace” Anjanette Young and Breonna Taylor were selected to be a part of the Black Creativity Juried Art Exhibition at the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry! This program is the longest continuously running exhibit of Black artists and has been a part of the Museum for 55 years.

See more than 100 dynamic works from both professional and amateur African-American artists from around the country.

This longest-running exhibition of African-American art has been displayed annually at MSI since 1970. The exhibition features paintings, drawings, fine art prints, sculpture, mixed-media, ceramics and photography by African Americans, including youth artists between the ages of 14 and 17.

Opens on January 16, 2017 and runs through February 19, 2017.

African Festival of the Arts

Experience a four-day immersion into African culture and heritage in Chicago's Washington Park, which becomes transformed into an authentic African village during the Labor Day holiday weekend. Over 300 vendors and artisans from Africa and the African Diaspora will present artifacts, textiles, traditional crafts and museum quality art. Enjoy the global arch of African influenced food, music, and dance traditions during an entertainment rich, family-focused celebration. 

Each year, the grounds of the African Fest come alive as a simulated African village, replete with special-interests pavilions featuring African drumming; colorful and rich fabrics; hand-crafted fine arts; interactive demonstrations; health and wellness workshops; spectacular jewelry; children's programming; author and book readings; and captivating entertainment.
